State Fair Day

Every year, the state fair hosts marching bands from around the state for a competition, and I was able to go along this year as a chaperone. We loaded up the busses and rolled out at 7 am. As soon as we hit the fairgrounds, the kids jumped off the busses and it was time to march!

Next stop was the arena where they performed two of the three pieces from this year's marching show. Everyone did great and they received a "I" rating - the highest rating possible!

Once the competition was over, everyone had about 3 hours to kill until it was time to leave. First stop: lunch!

I stuck with pizza because I've been fighting off the flu for a couple of weeks and didn't want to risk getting sick while far away from home! No fried foods on a stick for this girl today.

Then I dragged my patient husband to the petting zoo! My favorite was the baby llama :)

A baby emu! The big emu didn't look quite so friendly...

We went to the pig races! Unfortunately I didn't get any pics of the pigs in action because I got chosen to stand In the middle as a cheerleader....... For the second year in a row.

We stopped by the 4-H building and saw a bunch of exhibits that were way more amazing than anything I could ever make!

Drooled over some 4 wheelers...

Watched taffy pulled...

Oh hi, bane of my existence! Thanks for causing my allergies to go through the roof this year!

It was such a fun day. It was a little too cold for my taste but better than the 100°+ weather the last couple of years I've gone!
