As I've said before, I am not terribly crafty, but I more than appreciate those who are. I spent a good part of the weekend browsing Etsy on my phone and I came across something new to me - mini canvases. These are actual little canvases that people paint on! I did not know such a thing existed! I favorited these ombre canvases:

I love these and decided I could attempt my own version, even with my limited craftiness. So I made a trip to Hobby Lobby on my lunch break to grab these:
And i got to work! Doing some research online, I saw a lot of recommendations to first cover the canvas with a thin layer of water.
When they say thin, they mean thin. Like, barely damp. I put too much water on a couple of the canvases and it diluted the color a bit too much for my taste.
Cover 1/3rd of the canvas with your base color, then add a few drops of white and stir.
Cover the next 1/3rd with your white mixture, then add a bunch more white and cover the final 1/3.
The water on the canvas allows the colors to blend together pretty easily. I found that the darker colors (pink and blue) looked a lot better than the lighter colors (teal and yellow). If I did it again, I would choose all dark colors because it's a much bigger difference between the light and the dark. Here's the final product!
The canvases were $5 for a four pack of the 3x3 size and the paints were around $1, bringing the total for this project to a little over $10! I also spent a dollar on a plastic artist's palette to make it easier to mix the colors, but that part is optional. I also only used white to mix the colors but you could also use black to make the colors darker.
I'm definitely not a pro at this so if I can make these cute little ombre canvases, anyone can!
