Big Kid Bedroom

Being a typical mid-20s girl, I've never had a matching bedroom set. It's all the same color {white... The color I picked for my bed frame when I was 9...} but the dresser is next to useless and the bookshelves are from Walmart. Husband is in the same boat and we are both tired of the mismatched feeling in our bedroom. My parents have a king mattress that we are going to take to the new house but no headboard or anything for it so we went bed shopping yesterday! We originally intended to get just a bed and leave the rest of the bedroom furniture for later down the road, but we ultimately decided that that would still leave us with a mismatched set and we ended up splurging on a full bedroom set. The store we bought from was having a Labor Day sale so we got a great deal! I cannot wait until it gets delivered to our new house and I am so excited for the grownup feel in our bedroom!

Our bed! We also got a dresser, mirror, nightstand, and chest of drawers.

One Step Forward...

Very good news! Our house passed inspection! Last time around, we were given a loooooong list of things that needed to be fixed, but this time around was totally different. We have absolutely ZERO major things that need to be addressed and only one or two minor things.
Happy dance!!

So we are good to go to close in less than three weeks! AHH! We are getting our two car garage, our walk-in closet, our fenced yard, and our large master bedroom. Lots of things we can check off of our "want" list... is this normal for a first-time buyer?? So exciting, so much to do, so much to learn. I cannot wait to start this new adventure. :)

#tbt

I'm one of those people that participates in TBT, or Throwback Thursday, on Instagram every week. I love looking through my old photos and seeing the ones other people post! I am now extending TBT to the blog because it's just that fun.

Junior year of high school, we did the musical Dames At Sea. This show was my absolute favorite to perform in! We had two tap dance numbers, which were so fun to learn. I think it took me about a week to wash all the hairspray out of my hair, though... those curls were hard as a rock.

One random day at Bible Study my senior year of high school, we decided to play with all of our old Teeny Beanies. There's really no explanation for this, but they are so cute!

Whoever did the scheduling for my friends and me in high school made a very big mistake putting two of my best friends and I in the same chemistry class. I had this Tinkerbell keychain on my backpack (with her body attached to her head) and one of my friends liked playing with it. So one day during class, she's flicking it with her finger saying "Tinkerbell flies! Tinkerbell flies!" and she flicks it a little too hard and the body goes flying across the room. My other friend and I about died from trying not to laugh!

This was our senior prank - I think we covered the assistant headmaster's office in 8000 post-its.

During Spirit Week every year, we had different themed days where each class would compete for the best costume. One of the days during sophomore year was Bible Story Day, and my whole class dressed up as Noah's Ark. We were the two sheep!

Signalong

I did my first signalong video! It took a lot of takes but it was so fun and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out :)

Cozy Master Bedroom

Our master bedroom in our new house is absolutely enormous - we think they combined two bedrooms into one. That is very good news for us since our current queen bed is not big enough for the both of us! Finding a master bedroom that was big enough to accommodate a king bed and dresser proved to be a challenge during the house hunt and I'm thrilled that we found such a large room! I'm excited to get a whole new bedroom set and put our current one in our guest room. I've been scouring Etsy and Pinterest to find inspiration for the master bedroom that I'm envisioning and I think I've settled on a grey and yellow theme with pops of teal. Luckily, husband is on board with this idea. He is great about trusting my design tastes :) I feel like most of our things will come from Bed Bath & Beyond because we were blessed with a ton of BBB gift cards for our wedding, and I've already found some cute things on their website! Once we close on the house, it's shopping time for this little lady! Here are some of my favorite ideas so far. The hard part will be picking which aspects to put in the room!

I'm Diggin It

Here are some of my favorites right now!

This girl did the ALS ice bucket challenge an hour after she got her wisdom teeth out and I cannot stop laughing. Her face when she dumps the water on herself is just the funniest.

I am a huge Swiftie but I wasn't the biggest fan of this song the first time I heard it. It's grown on me since! I cannot wait for her album to drop in October!

{sorry for the links... it wouldn't let me imbed the videos for some reason! click the titles to watch the videos.}

Baby Celebs

Blue Ivy Carter

North West

Penelope Disick

Prince George of Cambridge

These celeb kids are so stinking cute. I cannot get enough!

Kitchen Scramble

This Disney food truck version of Diner Dash is my current guilty pleasure. Can't stop playing it! I'm sure husband misses being able to use his iPad... Sorry, honey!

Basement Ideas

The house that we are (hopefully as of right now) moving into comes with an unfinished basement, which is both an exciting and daunting prospect. Once finished, it should have a living room, bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room! I know absolutely zero about plumbing, electrical, or installing carpeting and drywall, so I'm focusing primarily on the design aspect :) I absolutely hate dark places, so our future basement will be light but cozy. There is a place for a fireplace, which will help it feel much homier. I've been scouring Pinterest for ideas and here are some of my favorites! I like aspects of some pictures mixed with others, so it will be a learning process finding out what will work with our house!

DIY Plans

We are supposed to close on our house on September 18th and I am so excited to finally put some of my DIY Pinterest pins to use! I will have to see how some of these play out with the layout of the house, but here are my top ideas so far!

Hobby Lobby is just waiting for me to come raid the aisles in search of home projects! I can't wait to get started!

Chicken Taco Casserole

Husband requested "something chickeny" for dinner, so I whipped up some chicken taco casserole. It's super creamy and easy to make!

2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 1/2 cups sour cream
2 tablespoons taco seasoning
2 cups cooked and cubed chicken (I bought a package of pre-cooked chicken strips and cut them into smaller pieces)
6 tortillas (I only used 4 because do the size of pan I used)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (casserole or Mexican blend will work for this)

Mix the sour cream, taco seasoning, and soup in a heated saucepan.

Add the chicken.

Tear the tortillas in strips and line the bottom. {My 9x13 pan was still dirty from last night's dinner, so I used my 8x11. I layered two tortillas instead of three.}

Add half the chicken mixture.

Add another layer of tortillas - again, I used two.

Add the rest of the chicken mixture and top with cheese.

Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.

If any of my Trinity friends miss Mrs. Deutch's chicken enchiladas, this tastes really similar! Happy baking!

Stuffed Pasta Shells

I love this recipe. It's so easy to make and husband loves it! All you need is a box of jumbo shells, 2 eggs, 1 8oz bag of mozzarella cheese, 1 8oz container of ricotta cheese, and a jar of pasta sauce.

Cook the pasta...

Mix together the eggs, ricotta cheese, and half of the package of mozzarella.

Once the pasta is done, drain it and rinse in cool water so you don't burn yourself! Then stuff the shells with the cheese mixture and lay in a 9x13 baking pan.

Cover the whole thing with the pasta sauce and the rest of the cheese, then bake at 350° for 15 minutes.

Easy, cheesy, delish!

Many Miniatures

With my newfound love for Etsy comes my newfound love for {insert random thing here}. Recently, it's been miniatures. I've collected these tiny animal figurines from the zoo for the last couple of years - I have an alligator, flamingo, hippo, tiger, and elephant.

All of mine are still at my parents' house, but here is husband's crab from our trip to the Oklahoma Aquarium!
So when I found that people sell all kinds of miniatures on Etsy, I was beside myself excited. Here are some of my favorite littles!
